Big Idea
Many important practical and mathematical applications involve comparing quantities of one kind or another; it is important to know which method to use and how we should use them.

Essential Question:
What methods are there for comparing things?

1) Use gasoline and mileage data to help settle Madeline and Luis’s argument.
Ans-So the amount of of gasolone Luis's car used was 15.5 and the amount of gasoline Madeline's car used up was 19 gallons but Luis only went 425 miles and Madeline went 580 miles which is more than the amount of distance luis's car went. Now we need to find out how much gasoline luis's car REALLY used. So you divide the amount of miles the car used with the amount of gasoline so for luis it would be 29.16 miles/gallon and for Madeline it would be 30.5 miles/gallon. So now that you have the amount of miles per gallon. Now you multiply miles/gallon with the amount of gallons they used. For luis it would be:29.16 into 15.5 which equals-451.98 miles and for madeline it woul be: 30.5 into 19- 579.5 miles so you can see that Madeine went farther and use more fuel.

2) Which car do you think is more fuel efficient on the highway? Explain how you decided and why you think you are correct.

I think Madeline's car is more fuel efficient because it goes 30.5 gallons per mile while Luis's car only goes 29.16 miles/gallon.
